The Infectious Disease Society of Georgia (“IDSG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of the clinicians, members, and visitors who use our website at idsocietyga.org and any related pages, forms, and event registrations (collectively, the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect two kinds of information:

Information you provide

When you contact us, RSVP to a meeting, sign up for updates, or express interest in joining IDSG, you may give us information such as your name, email address, profession or credentials (for example, MD, DO, NP, PA, or PharmD), and any message you choose to send. You decide what to share; some features may not work without certain details.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our Site and the services that host it may automatically collect limited technical and usage information — such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit — through cookies and similar technologies. We use this information in aggregate to understand how the Site is used and to keep it working well.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to: respond to your questions and requests; manage event registrations and continuing medical education (CME) records; send you communications you have asked to receive, such as meeting announcements; operate, maintain, and improve the Site; and comply with applicable law. We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal effects about you.

How we share information

IDSG does not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers. We use trusted vendors to host the Site, manage our content, send email, and measure usage. They may process your information only to provide services to us and are expected to protect it.
• Event and CME partners. When you attend a CME dinner, we may share attendance information as needed to award CME credit or meet accreditation requirements.
• Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with the law or a valid legal request, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of IDSG, our members, or others.
• Organizational changes. If IDSG reorganizes or transfers its operations, your information may be transferred as part of that change, subject to this Privacy Policy.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files stored on your device that help a website function and remember preferences. We and our service providers may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site and to gather aggregate usage statistics. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when they are used; some parts of the Site may not function properly if cookies are disabled. Because there is no industry consensus on how to respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.

The Site links to resources operated by others, including the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), public-health agencies, restaurant or venue pages, and calendar or RSVP tools. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Please review their privacy policies before providing any information.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information we hold. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping any credentials you use confidential.

Your choices

You may opt out of IDSG emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in a message or by contacting us. You may also ask us to review, correct, or delete the personal information you have provided. We will honor reasonable requests consistent with our recordkeeping and legal obligations.

Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for healthcare professionals and other adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated version here. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
