We bring the Georgia ID community together to learn, share, and advocate.
We host four CME dinner meetings a year at restaurants around the metro area — a chance to trade notes with colleagues, earn CME, and strengthen the field across Georgia. Members include physicians (MD/DO), nurse practitioners, pharmacists (PharmD), and physician assistants.

Dr. Nora Oliver
MD, MPH
President
Dr. Nora Oliver, MD, MPH, is an Infectious Diseases physician with clinical interests in general infectious diseases, vascular infections, and musculoskeletal infections, particularly those related to diabetes and prosthetic joints. She has served as Director of the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Program at the Atlanta VA Healthcare System since 2017. Her additional interests include travel medicine, viral hepatitis, and HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). In addition to her outpatient clinical practice, Dr. Oliver regularly attends on the inpatient Infectious Diseases consult service at the Atlanta VA. She is also actively involved in educating medical trainees at all levels through both bedside teaching and classroom instruction.
Dr. Drew W. Cates
PharmD, AAHIVP

Dr. Drew W. Cates, PharmD, AAHIVP, is a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in HIV and infectious diseases, with experience spanning outpatient ID practice, academia, and industry-based medical education. He established a clinical practice at Emory University Hospital Midtown's Outpatient Infectious Disease Clinic and went on to provide outpatient ID and viral hepatitis care at the Atlanta VA Healthcare System. Dr. Cates also spent six years on faculty at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine–Georgia, where he precepted pharmacy trainees and developed ACPE-accredited continuing education for pharmacists. His professional interests include HIV treatment and prevention, general infectious diseases, outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), travel medicine, viral hepatitis, and interprofessional education.
Dr. Lauren Epstein
MD, MS

Dr. Lauren Epstein, MD, MS, is an infectious diseases physician and hospital epidemiologist at the Atlanta VA Healthcare System. Her work focuses on healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, and emerging infectious diseases. She has led national and regional efforts to improve patient safety, address antimicrobial resistance, and advance infectious disease surveillance.
Dr. Tiffany Goolsby
PharmD, BCIDP

Dr. Tiffany Goolsby, PharmD, BCIDP, is an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist with extensive experience in antimicrobial stewardship, infectious diseases pharmacotherapy, and clinical decision support. She currently works at Bitscopic, where she collaborates with healthcare organizations to advance antimicrobial stewardship through innovative clinical surveillance technology. Dr. Goolsby's professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, diagnostic stewardship, multidrug-resistant organisms, rapid diagnostics, outpatient antimicrobial therapy, and leveraging health informatics and clinical decision support to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Sophie Lukashok

Sophie Lukashok, MD is an infectious disease doctor in Atlanta, GA. Originally from New York City, she completed her fellowship training in infectious diseases at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1996, and started her career in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University. She was on faculty for 10 years until 2006, when she transitioned to private practice, first at the Atlanta ID Group, followed by 6 years in practice for herself. Since 2018, she has worked as an infectious disease specialists at Kaiser Permanente in Georgia. Dr. Lukashok was the past president of the Infectious Disease Society of Georgia (IDSG) from 2016 to 2026, and has seen the organization grow from a grassroots professional organization to a regional affiliate of the Infectious Disease Society of America. Her interests are in all clinical aspects of HIV Clinical Care and Clinical Infectious Diseases. She continues to be involved in the IDSG as Treasurer. Outside of her professional life in medicine, she loves to read, cook and go to museums, and spends her free time managing her 3 kids and experimenting in the kitchen.
